Shell for single crystal DS/DX blades

Our ceramic shell molds are produced with unique molding techniques, incl. dipping the entire cluster of wax parts into a ceramic slurry, strategically draining excess slurry, and coating it with fine ceramic sand.

After drying, this process is repeated again and again, using progressively coarser grades of ceramic material until a self-supporting shell has been formed. The completed ceramic shell may be from 7mm to 10mm thick.

For SC superalloy casting, the unique dipping and heaving techniques, in which thin shell molds are utilized, are specifically developed to enable the establishment of a high-temperature gradient for SC growth and the freckle-free solidification of superalloy castings. Furthermore, the shell is fired in a heating furnace to develop the strength required to contain the molten metal prior to casting.

Our foundry products are made from a wide range of high-quality raw materials using advanced technologies. Standard materials are with 99.7% Aluminiumoxid. The material shows excellent stability at high temperatures and is easy to leach out. They can be used with a wide range of alloys, including nickel and cobalt-based alloys, steels and aluminum.

As the type of alloy being cast is crucial, we provide fully customized products, incl. sizes, shape, selection of particular materials, and processes technologies, for optimum performance in customer individual applications
